Frequently asked questions
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What can I expect in my first counseling session?
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We’ll discuss your goals, background, and what brought you to counseling. It’s a relaxed, judgment-free space to share what you’re comfortable with and start building trust.
2. How long are counseling sessions?
Most sessions last about 50 minutes. The frequency and duration of counseling depend on your needs and goals, which we’ll discuss together.
3. Do you offer virtual or in-person sessions?
Yes, I offer both online and in-person counseling options. Virtual sessions provide flexibility and comfort, while in-person sessions offer a more traditional setting—choose what works best for you.
4. What kinds of counseling do you provide?
I offer individual, couples, and group counseling, using a mix of evidence-based approaches such as person-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral techniques, attachment theory, and wellness counseling. For those interested, Christian counseling is also available to integrate faith into the healing process.
5. Is counseling confidential?
Absolutely. Your privacy is protected by law and professional ethics. Information shared in counseling is kept strictly confidential, except in rare cases where safety or legal requirements apply.
6. How do I know if counseling is right for me?
Counseling can be helpful for anyone seeking support, personal growth, or healthier ways to manage life’s challenges. If you’re feeling stuck, stressed, or simply want to improve your well-being, counseling can be a valuable step forward.
7. Do you take insurance or offer self-pay options?
Unfortunately I am not currently taking insurance. Because of this, I try very hard to provide counseling services below the national average cost. If finances are currently keeping you from seeking counseling, please reach out to me.
8. How do I schedule an appointment?
You can schedule a session by phone, email, or through the online contact form. I’ll respond as soon as possible to arrange a time that fits your schedule.
9. What is Christian counseling, and is it required?
Christian counseling integrates faith-based principles with professional therapeutic techniques. It’s entirely optional and available for clients who wish to incorporate their spirituality into their healing journey.
10. What if I’ve never been to counseling before?
That’s completely okay! Many people start counseling without knowing exactly what to expect. My goal is to make you feel comfortable, supported, and empowered from the very first session.
